Juvéderm™ is a hyaluronic acid-based injectable gel that smooths your facial wrinkles and folds by restoring your skin’s volume. It is recommended for treating the cheeks, lines, and folds around the mouth and for lip enhancement. Juvederm includes a family of products including Juvederm Ultra, Ultra-Plus, Vollure, Volbella, Voluma and others.
Hyaluronic acid, the base compound for Juvederm, is found naturally in your body. It lubricates your joints and is a natural component of human skin. Our naturally occurring hyaluronic acid diminishes with age. When this happens, Juvederm injections can be used to replace lost hyaluronic acid, as well as temporarily fill in facial lines and wrinkles. Some Juvederm products can provide temporary volume at the injection site, thus creating a more youthful appearance.
You’re a good candidate for Juvederm if you have facial lines and wrinkles, or you have mid-facial volume loss. You should be in good health and have realistic expectations for this treatment.
As with other injectable fillers, Juvederm injections take about 15 minutes to perform. A topical numbing cream will be applied to the injection site; after the injection, our expert staff will massage the area to help reduce swelling and bruising.
The results of Juvederm treatment last six to 24 months depending on the product used and the area treated. The effects diminish gradually as your body absorbs the natural hyaluronic acid. The advantage of this and other temporary fillers, such as Restylane, is that you can have touch-ups or re-treatment at any time.
It is normal for you to experience some minor swelling, pain, and redness after your treatment. This should subside within a week. For at least 24 hours after treatment, you should avoid strenuous activity, sun exposure, and excessive heat.
